Mark and son, Jamie

Mark Diamond (Mr. D) is generally considered the Southeast’s foremost children’s writing specialist. A certified Creative Writing and Gifted Ed specialist with Georgia’s DeKalb County for more than eight years, he left the classroom in 1999 to start his own educational consulting business, Writing to Command Attention! Workshops.

Mark currently presents numerous elementary and secondary student and faculty workshops each year, and is credited with raising Writing Assessment scores across the USA. His fun, original methods and energetic presentation skills also have been featured at numerous annual educational conferences throughout the Southeast, including those of the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE), Florida Reading Association, Tennessee Reading Association, SE IRA, Georgia Reading Association, National Youth-At-Risk and the North Carolina Reading Association.

The author of 6 Tricks to Student NARRATIVE Writing Success, 6 Tricks to Student PERSUASIVE Writing Success and 6 Tricks to Student INFORMATIONAL Writing Success (Easy Guides for Students, Teachers & Parents), Mark created and served as publisher and editor of Atlanta Kids Magazine, and is the uncredited co-author of SRA McGraw-Hill’s 2002 Open Court Reading Language Arts Handbook. His latest guide is 6 Tricks to Student WRITER’S ORIGAMI Success.

Mr. D holds a BS degree in Public Communication from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communication and a Masters of Education degree from Oglethorpe University.
